Podcast: How and Why to Become a Speaker

This is a podcast version of my rant-in-the-bar advice to anyone thinking about speaking, or wondering how to begin. Personally I think many more people could be sharing their expertise at events than actually do so, and I would really like anyone who wants to get involved to have a starting point. So if that's you, and you have a spare ten minutes to listen to my thoughts on the subject, then the mp3 is here.

Let me know what you think, and if you have any other advice you'd give to someone who isn't yet speaking.

Awesome podcast. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been considering submitting a talk for Zendcon, and have almost chickened out a couple of times. After listening, I’m off to work on three or four abstracts. Thanks for the kick in the butt.

Great points Lorna. I just gave my first presentation to a user group just last week and can confirm a measure of terror before I did it.

Now, I’m too busy thinking what I can do to improve it for next time, and wondering what else I could do as well.

This is very interesting and helpful tip. I just felt its quite similar to adding a new node to link list in C and moving pointer to next :)
