My .screenrc:

bq. hardstatus alwayslastline “%w”
shell -$SHELL

* %w just shows the tabs, without any fancy colors.
* shell -$SHELL makes sure all my profile stuff get’s loaded when I create a new window inside my screen (such as aliases, etc)
